Get Involved In The Church

I hope you are actively involved in a church. That sounds like a pastor’s sermon, however, please bear in mind that although I now serve as a pastor, I have during my pilgrimage been a farm boy, mill worker, truck driver, inner-city youth worker, excavator, bus driver, and Rescue Mission Director. I have experienced car accidents, a farm tractor rollover, surgeries, including but not limited to open heart, hand, gall bladder, heart stints, defibrillator implant, and now the removal of half of my thyroid. I don’t tell you this to illicit your sympathy. Your list may be longer than mine.

The point I want to make today is this: the church of Jesus Christ has been critical to me throughout my journey. Yes, I know the abiding presence, and the power of God through faith in His amazing grace, but He ministers it to me most often through His church.

The church (the congregations of believers) is the most precious thing on earth to God. It is destined to be the bride of His only Son! When I see those outside the church suffer and deal with challenges of life, I marvel that they survive without Jesus and His church.

Danielle and I have been blessed to be part of several different local churches. They have loved, supported, discipled, and challenged us to continue our journey toward eternity with God.

The current pandemic protocols have made it difficult for groups of believers to gather for worship, instruction and fellowship, but we all know, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Restoration Fellowship has been on-line since its beginning, and presently as a public service on Saturdays at 10 AM, using the facilities of Ignited Church.

Having had half of my thyroid gland removed yesterday, and been free of cancer, I am especially glad for the ministry of the people of RFC. Their prayer and caring is making this recent surgery just another bump in the road toward eternity.

We are all on the road to eternity. Only those who believe in Jesus and receive Him as Savior are on the road to eternity with Him in paradise.

I plan to worship with my local church tomorrow and I hope you too know the fellowship and support of being part of the Church of Jesus Christ.
